Window Cleaning Tips
- Use your extension pole for all overhead work. Place your strip applicator or Strip on the pole and wet the upper part of the window being sure not to wet the top moulding, wetting the window horizontally along the top. Then scrub the rest of the window using vertical up and down strokes.
- Change the applicator for the squeegee, at the top of the pole.
Then place the squeegee in the upper right hand corner against the
top moulding (opposit corner if left handed).
- Tilt the right edge of the squeegee down slightly and start your downward stroke.
- Maintaining the squeegee in the tilted position, pull the squeegee down to shoulder height. Do not press the squeegee too hard against the glass. Remember, it is the sharp edge of the rubber blade which wipes the window clean.
- At the bottom of each down stroke, tap the squeegee against the remaining portion of the glass. This will release excess water and dirt from the wiping edge. There is no need for wiping off the blade after each stroke.
- When the tool is raised back to the top of the window, tilt the squeegee slightly toward the remaining wet portion. This will prevent dripping on the cleaned area of the window.
- Working along the entire window top, overlap each new down stroke by about 2". Pull the squeegee down in a slightly diagonal direction, away from the water on the window to where it can easily be reached without the extension pole.
- On the last down stroke, place the squeegee against the left hand moulding. Tilt the handle slightly toward the moulding and pull down. This action will prevent water being forced onto the just squeegeed area.
- Placing the extension pole to one side, the lower portion of the window can now be squeegeed. Holding the squeegee loosely, position the tool against the left verical moulding, overlapping into the dry upper portion of the window by 2 to 3".
- Tilt the squeegee down slightly and pull across the width of the window to the opposite moulding.
- To remove water near the bottom of window place squeegee at the left side of moulding with the left edge of the rubber blade touching the bottom moulding.
- Tilt handle down slightly and squeegee across the width of the window with the end of squeegee the rubber touching the bottom of the moulding.
- As squeegee nears the opposite moulding, turn blade, so the right edge touches the verical moulding and complete downstroke against the bottom of the window.
- For final touch-up, place a clean damp chamois on the end of the extension pole and run the chamois along the edge of the window. Wipe the bottom moulding with a sponge.
